BAYONETTA (BAYONETTA)

The official character
DESCRIPTION:
My Bayonetta cosplay from the videogame of the same name has immediately became one of my most popular cosplays on the web, and has a long history:
At the time there weren't many Bayonetta cosplays because it was a rather elaborate costume full of details, and let's face it, the costumes on sale were not faithful at all.
I have always been meticulous with details, and some were really hidden.
I started from the basis of one of these costumes that could be purchased on the internet: I remember that I spent hours looking for a good quality one, but the costume that I finally received at home was completely different from the one that was shown on the site where I had it bought.
It was horrible, absolutely horrible, and all the accessories were missing. Basically, a scam! That time I burst into tears out of disappointment and stress :°D
But I rolled up my sleeves and decided to work on the basis of that costume to at least come up with something acceptable. It was difficult, expensive and I was getting tired before I even put it on!
There weren't yet some materials in the shops, such as eva foam (with which, nowadays, I would have made the belts and the moon-shaped buckles on the arms to make them light, instead of the eco-leather and heavy plastic), so I had to make do as I could.
In the end, however, the result wasn't bad at all, and on the contrary, during the fairs I even received compliments on those details that other people missed.
I have also read criticism, of course, I know that today I would do some things differently.
But I think back to the evenings in which my boyfriend helped me sculpt the buckles by hand with a moldable plastic, even if we had the shape wrong, and after this difficulty I read on the web that my buckles were "shitty" by other cosplayers of Bayonetta:
it hurts to receive insults, but it makes me think that all in all it's fine like this too. If we go so far as to nitpick to point out the flaws when the overall result is so beautiful, it means that we did a good job and that, perhaps, I aroused a little envy.
Bayonetta's original costume would be made up partly of hair: I was able to use part of a wig for some of the hair details around the breasts, but I wasn't able to use wigs for the hair that would hang long from the elbows (due to the excessive weight and light fabric that would not have held up). I had to use drapes of fabric.
For the guns, I have to thank a friend for making them out of wood for me (painting by me)!
In hindsight, it would have been preferable to make the guns on the shoes with a lighter material, because it was very difficult to secure them on the heels and walk in them. But are truly beautiful!
I also had to work hard for the hairstyle because, again at the time, there were no wigs for the character on sale yet.
I've never been good at styling wigs, so I opted for a different solution, using my real hair.
I had really long hair (straight, it almost reached my knees!), so I was able to reproduce the high hairstyle by just adding two fake long ponytails and a synthetic fringe. I had pulled my hair into a very high ponytail, rolling it up like a bun, and on top I had also rolled one of the ponytails. Above again, I put the other ponytail, and with chains and ribbons the result was perfect!
But it was difficult to hold it for the whole day of the fair. Of all the cosplays I've done, this was definitely the most uncomfortable, painful and tiring!
As for the character: if I think back to the period in which the first Bayonetta game was released on Xbox 360 years ago, I remember that the first impact with the beautiful witch was one of dislike, without knowing anything about her story yet.
At the time I was frequenting video game forums, and I was frequently encouraged to cosplayed her because they said I looked like her.
I didn't want to know anything about it, so much so that in the aforementioned forum I changed the signature of my posts with the words "stop asking me to cosplay Bayonetta, I'll never do it anyway". Famous last words! :°D
Driven partly by insistence, partly by curiosity, I gave Bayonetta a chance and bought the game. As you can see from this album, I completely changed my mind not only about this charismatic and beautiful character, but also about the game itself (usually I don't particularly like hack'n slash), thanks to its splendid atmosphere and story full of humor , in some ways a "parody". In short, I completely fell in love with Bayonetta, and since then he has become one of my favorite characters ever!
