B. ORCHID (KILLER INSTINCT 2)

Orchid

The official character

DESCRIPTION:

Here's my B. Orchid cosplay from Killer Instinct 2!

It is actually a "remake" cosplay, since in the past I had already proposed the character, however with results that hadn't fully satisfied me (mainly because at the time I hadn't found the right fabrics, and I had obtained some bad tonfa from a pair of legs of old chairs!).

Today I was able to make this cosplay better, as I've dreamed of for a long time!
This is a costume that I purchased, but on which I made several changes to make it more faithful to the character and fit me. In any case it was so high-cut that everything could really be seen, so I also had to make digital adjustments so as not to risk censorship :°D Furthermore, the costume that arrived to me had a normal slip, so I took care of obtaining the tanga for greater fidelity to the original costume (unfortunately it would be unthinkable to wear it at the convention). I made the tonfas with PVC and foam tubes, simply colored with acrylics. I made the accessories on the ankles with moldable foam, wooden skewers and wire. Finally, the wig I found is simply perfect, and for the negligible cost, it really does look like real hair!! I even got the tuft. Cool! Let's forget the technical details and come to the character:

Orchid is simply my favorite fighting game heroine. When I was a little girl I was literally conquered by Killer Instinct Gold that I got for my Nintendo 64 (it's the console conversion of the original Killer Instinct 2 arcade, sadly a bit more sacrificed - they had deleted all FMV, for example-). She been one of my favorite videogame characters ever since. Her moves are fast and deadly: some of my favorites are the wheel swipe with her legs, the use of tonfa that shoots electric shocks and the attack where she takes on the form of a cougar / jaguar, umh, fire panther?  (I don't remember the names of the moves, sorry!) Speaking of her look, Orchid embodies the typical 90s femme fatale, with breathtaking curves and a dizzying shiny skintight costume. In short, she is a secret agent, would you ever say that?! Certainly it is a very sexualized character, but it remains very cool, nowadays perhaps it would arouse indignation among the female public who care about equal representations (which is why his look has changed radically in KI3, in favor of a more realistic image in his role and in step with times). I still prefer her classic look! (And when I used to play with my friends as a child, we'd watch her moves, and our comments were something like "oh my, when I grow up I want to have her legs!" :°D)

I've tried to re-interpret some official CG images of the character so I'll post some direct comparisons (the image of Orchid washing his car was one of the first CG images I'd come across in my early days on the web, and I was pretty shocked about that damn ass °o°). As always, I use my graphic design and post-production skills to replace the backgrounds of the photos I take myself, so that instead of the wall of the house the interpretation can be appreciated in a more ideal set (such as Jen's cosplay, also in this case I made several screenshots with the photo mode of Gotham Knights, looking for some places that could remind the stages of Orchid). I apologize if some images may seem more artificial than others, it's not a simple job and I do my best to try to obtain an acceptable quality, sometimes the compromises are that of appearing unnatural. After these long chats, I hope you will appreciate the images and, who hasn't played Killer Instinct yet, will worry about going to retrieve it!
